Habilitation & Rehabilitation

Habilitation
After putting on their hearing devices, the switch-on of their speech processors, parents and main caregivers need to provide the child with an environment where the child is surrounded by good spoken language and also give him/her the opportunity to develop spoken language through meaningful interactions.
At The Hearing Solution Group, we provide habilitation services for children with hearing impairment and their families. These services include Listening Skills sessions for the children, and Parent Guidance sessions for the children and their main caregivers.

Listening Skills Sessions
A child who has just been fitted with hearing devices or just had the initial switch-on of the speech processors, is now aware of sound. He/she needs help to make sense of these sounds and learn where these sounds are coming from.
The more help people around him/her can provide, the quicker the child will learn to make use of these sounds.
For children or adults who have already had language before the lost of their hearing, these sessions are great help to link whatever they hear now through their hearing devices to the sounds they knew previously.

Parent Guidance Sessions
For many, if not all the children, speech and language development is mainly through meaningful interactions with adults around them.
Caregivers need guidance on using daily activities to interact with the child so as to enhance their speech and language development.
